Chap in a Cap (French Horn: Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat major)
Chap In A Cap
By Richard Perlmutter
In bonny old Britain tradition’s been written
That if to a nobleman’s station you’re born
Your birth is announced and title pronounced
By a chap in a cap who is blowing a horn
To Eton you’re sent where the years are all spent
In the footsteps of fellows whose paths are well worn
And who will decree that you’ve got your degree
It’s that chap in a cap who is blowing a horn
Hi ho hi ho he blows his horn and away you go
Hi ho hi hay he is heralding you on your way
You’re on your way
And people say
That gentleman’s got a pedigree
A member of high society
He’s a gent who’s gives it his most
Let’s raise up our cups and give him a toast
The world in your clutches you marry a duchess
Your clothing will never be tattered or torn
So pull up your sox start chasing a fox
Says a chap in the cap who is blowing a horn
And when you retire and finally expire
The notice is given the nation will mourn
He rose to the test now we’ll lay him to rest
Says the chap in the cap who is blowing a horn
Hi ho hi ho cheerio hi ho
